What I read . . .
Steps to Dynamic Devotion:
“The goal of a single-minded devotion is to know God. Remember that the final judgment will be measured ultimately by how much we have come to know the Lord and allowed Him to live through us.” (Spirit Filled Life Bible–Thomas Nelson Publishers, page 1138).
These words hit me hard as I sat with my Bible open on my lap, praying with great determination that God would help me draw closer to Him and be more devoted to Him in the midst of a very difficult season. Letting the words from my study Bible go from my head to my heart I broke them down into pieces that I could digest.
My take away . . .
If the above words are true about being devoted to God, and I believe what the author wrote, I want to spend my days learning more about the Lord–God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I also want to allow the Lord to live through me. It’s not about what I do, what I accomplish, how people see me . . . it’s about how I allow God to live through me–no matter what age, stage of life I’m in at the time, or my circumstances.
And you know what? it’s all about Him. It’s His glory, not mine. Everything that I accomplish, it should really be God accomplishing His will, works, and purposes through me.
God delights in those who understand and know Him. I want to be a delight to the Lord. I need to have a greater desire to know Him and allow Him to live through me–right now, in this stage of my life, in these circumstances.
“Let now the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the might man glory in his might,
Nor let the rich man glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the Lord, excercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth,
For in these I delight,” says the Lord. (Jer. 9:23, 24).
Join me. . .
Because I’ve spent months in the book of Jeremiah allowing the Lord to speak, teach, and show me many truths, I would love to share what I’ve learned with you. Won’t you join me as we learn more about the Lord and take steps toward dynamic devotion? And, if you know of someone else who would like to receive my blog teachings, give them my link at www.bethfortune.net and let them know they can sign up and they too will receive these blogs. (You can also share this on your social media.) I can’t wait to go on this journey with you. Let’s do this together and hopefully we will all know more about the Lord and allow Him to live through us.
